Research

Research Interest:

Shoujin's research investigates novel data mining and machine learning techniques and their applications, with a research theme focused on user behavior analysis and modelling, recommender systems, fake news mitigation. His long-term goal is to design intelligent and reliable recommender systems to provide trustworthy and responsible recommendation services to end users in the complex cyber space which is full of threat from noise, bias, attacks, etc. The outcomes are expected to facilitate the development of the digital economy and sustainable society. Some of his focused research topics include:

(1). Pattern mining and knowledge discovery

(2). User behavior analysis and modeling

(3). Recommender systems

(4). Fake news detection and mitigation


Research Supervision:

Shoujin supervises Ph.D, Master by Research (MRes) students and honor's students as a principal supervisor or co-supervisor internally and externally.

  1. Mr Yingtao Ren, Ph.D student at UTS, fuzzy learning and recommender systems, from Beijing Jiaotong University, since 2024.01 (co-supervisor).

  2. Miss Liting Huang, Master by Research student at UTS, machine generated content detection, from the University of Sydney, since 2024.01.

  3. Mr Jin Li, Ph.D student at UTS, trustworthy machine learning and recommendation, from Yangzhou University, since 2023.07.

  4. Junxian Zhou, Master by Research student at UTS, finance data modeling and forecasting, from UTS, since 2023.01.

Mr Rongyao Wang, Master by research student at Qilu University of Technology, News Recommendation, 2019.10 -- 2022.10, published three papers: IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (2021), ICASSP (2022), DASFAA (2023).
